In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Olympia's Gabby Frye outdueled Monticello's Cassidee Stoffel in a 1-0 win in non-conference high school softball action on Monday in Monticello.
Stoffel and Frye went toe-to-toe, each going the distance in circle.
Frye struck out the final two batters she faced to finish with 11 strikeouts while permitting only four hits.
Stoffel struck out ten, walked one, but worked out consistent trouble throughout the game. Her only blemish was a Finley Hoffman RBI single in the fourth inning.
Kennedie Finchum was 2-for-4 to lead Olympia.
Thea Key, Sadie Walsh, Stoffel, and Reece Stiger had the only hits for the Lady Sages.
Olympia is 25-7 overall. Monticello drops to 20-8.
